Ik kwam dit tegen op Trip advisor:
*" Advise for crossing the border between Arica & Tacna, Wasn’t sure where to post this but I wanted others to learn from my Tacna experience to make sure that other travellers wouldn’t make the same series of mistakes as we did. This is with regards to the border crossing between Tacna, Peru and Arica, Chile – I feel that the information on tripadvisor is insufficiently detailed and wanted to contribute back!
If you arrive by Flores bus from Arequipa to Tacna, you will arrive to the Terminal Terrestre (essentially the national bus terminal). This is NOT where you solicit the collectivos-taxi.
You must walk out of the Terminal Terrestre and walk ACROSS the road to the INTERNATIONAL terminal. Also, DO NOT solicit any drivers in the street as they are potentially unsafe – I made that mistake here and began negotiating with drivers in the street (worst idea the entire trip).
Once you enter the INTERNATIONAL terminal, there is a small stand where you can purchase a “Billete de Embarque” for about 1 - 2 soles per person. You also need to pick up and complete two green immigration cards and an immigration form (there will be English versions).
You then walk through the security officer (black uniform, SEGURIDAD written on their backs) guarded gates/walkway and hand them your Billete - remember you cannot take fresh produce beyond this point. As you walk through the guarded gates, you will see a medium sized carpark filled with cars – THIS is where you need to solicit a driver. The cars in here will have a laminate printed sign in the windscreen of their cars which says: “TARIFA for 20 soles” (at March 2013, this was the price). These should be the official collectivos-taxi drivers, NOT the dodgy people loitering outside the terminal.
Signs of an official collectivos driver: ONLY ONE DRIVER, 4/5 passengers (travelling in numbers is safer…), TARIFA laminate in windscreen, car situated inside INTERNATIONAL terminal carpark only accessible through the security officer guarded walkway
AVOID: TWO or more “drivers” in a single car, few passengers, car situated OUTSIDE the terminal
Please please, if in doubt, talk to the SEGURIDAD officers, it’s their job to look after tourists! We were saved by a very helpful SEGURIDAD officer (thank you Ms Akimoto!) - we nearly entered a fake collectivos with two dodgy men. "*
