Nederlandse banen in Amerika?

Hey!!

I’m an American who worked (as an au pair) in the Netherlands for 13 months, en wil HEEEEEEEEEL graag terug komen!!

I don’t have a Dutch work visa or residence permit, and have found that obtaining one is nearly impossible (I’ve called the CWI and IND tons of times), and I’m thinking that the best thing to do, might be to start working for a Dutch company in America and transfer someday to the Netherlands?

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any jobs in the US that might allow me to transfer? I can speak/read/write (although my writing isn’t as good as the others) in Dutch, so feel free to respond in either language…

Thanks!!

Hi,
Maybe we can change? I wanna live in the states. I love NY, i never go to NY, nut someday…

You can work at VNU. That’s a Dutch company who makes magazines and stuff.

ha ha I would happily trade you! Maar helaas, heeft het CWI en de IND een hekel aan alle buitenlanders :disgust:

sigh

Yup, i know…

Any sugestions? :wereld:

I’ve found totally the opposite… when I was in Holland I found all the people to be SUPER. I made many friends while I was there and found that most people (in stores, on the street, anywhere) were really helpful and friendly. And while I understand a bit of the reason for the rules from the CWI/IND (“there are already too many people in the Netherlands”) I’m trying to do everything LEGALLY and they’re making it impossible…

As far as living in NY, what sort of work do you want to do? I worked as an au pair in the Netherlands (best experience of my life!) and you could look into doing something like that in NY? That’s relatively easy… Or are you looking for something else?

Oh that’s strange, because lot of American visitors here are not that positive as you are. Im the states it’s normal to say hi to people you don’t know. They don’t care here.

We got lot of American company’s here in Holand.
Why do you wanna come here? There’s nothing to do…

But being a au pair is not that easy though. I need manny references of mothers, experience, driver license,
I’m good with childeren and i love them so much.
But i got no education in that :disgust:
I’m a secretary here.

Maybe we can help each other???

Hmm, that’s funny… I don’t think I met any other Americans who didn’t find the Netherlands to be friendly! Actually, I always say that it’s in Holland where everyone says “hi” to each other and not in America  I lived there for 13 months though (close to Utrecht) and have lots of friends there. I love the culture (the friendliness, going to the bakery, walking and biking everywhere, ect…), the cities (the buildings, streets, houses, villages!) are gorgeous, I love the language (natuurlijk!)… just everything. What’s not to love?

And while there are many American companies in the Netherlands, I have the same problems there that I have with Dutch companies (they still have to go through the process to apply for a werkvergunning and that’s a 10 week - 6 month process that is very difficult and most employers aren’t willing to do)

As for being an au pair, I went through a website called www.greataupair.com and there you can search for families (I just searched NY) and find families that live in an area you want to go. That’s NOT through an agency, you negotiate your own contract with people and I believe it should be easier to get the visa to come here (for example, you don’t have to pay to join an agency) and just meet the requirements the parents want (ie. experience with kids, babysitting? siblings?) and references from old employers or something, but pretty basic stuff (you don’t need to have the education behind it)

what ideas did you have for helping each other?

Hi!
Sorry for the late reaction, i bought a new laptop this morning. And i was too bizzy to figure Vista out.

The most American people i met was in coffee shops (weedshops) lol
( I don’t use drugs) though.
But they told me that everyone is not that friendly. It’s true, because the service they give you here is not that much as i onter country’s.

I went to Greece, Italy, Turkey, Hungary, Germany… NL is different in everything.

But the streets here in Holand is beautiful, kinda old though.
I live 15 minutes away from Amsterdam, in Haarlem.

The only most important thing you guys miss in the States is our European dance scene. In Amerika it’s just underground music. But here…??? It’s a totaly hype. R&B and hip hop music is dead
We got great DJ’s like Fedde Le Grand, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten.

I definitley bring my Ipod with me if i gonna move to the USA :USA:
Thanks for the link.

If you wanna come to a vacation here, you can stay at my place if you want. Hotels are too expensive here. 130 euro at least per night.
I live in a small apartement, but i love it.
