Hallo allemaal
Omdat ik aan het einde van het jaar via darjeeling nepal in wil trekken via panitanki was ik wat info aan het verzamelen.
Ik kwam onderstaand verhaal tegen mbt de situatie bij de grens in India. Stuk is geschreven in 2010
Ik heb het stukje, wat enigszins bizar is, vet gemaakt.
Herkent iemand deze situatie ? En is dit nog steeds het geval ?
“” On Oct. 28th I crossed the indian border to Panitanki, to get to the city of Kakarbitta (on the Nepal Side). My driver dropped me off, shortly before the border and a Rischka driver drove me to Kakarbitta where I had to apply for a VISA which I received for 30 $. Then I had to pick up my flight ticket (which I booked in Darjeeling) in a very small travel agency. Finally a taxi took me in approx. 30 min. to the airport in Bhadrapur to catch my plane to Kathmandu. It was very easy to cross the border and apply for the VISA (altogether it took not more than 20 minutes). It was a very chaotic scenery - hundreds of Rikscha drives, trucks, street sellers of any goods you can imagine and a terrible noise and smog – but somehow they must have a system which is not visible to you! The only strange remark I have to make…** Around 20 km before the border of India I noticed every couple kilometer some artificial toll stations (which are officially not allowed – but police does not do anything because they obviously participate on the black money). Around 10 people stop cars randomly and ask for 50-500 rp (around 0.5-8$). If you don´t pay they threat you with damaging your car – so better you have some small change with youJ!** “”
