Camping & cooking in Israel

(even een engelstalig bericht, omdat ik het op diverse fora heb geplaatst)

Hi!

I will be travelling on a budget with a group (12 people) in Israël and on the Westbank from 2 August - 16 August.

Since we will be travelling with backpacks, we can’t bring too much stuff. We will bring “tarps” though.

We need tips for campings (or cheap hostels, gardens or couches), within easy reach of public transport:

  • Tel Aviv

  • Haifa

  • Akko

  • Tiberias/Golan Heights

  • Jerusalem

  • Dead Sea

  • What about cooking facilities on campings? do we need to bring our own cooking gear, or are there cooking facilities?

  • If none, would it be possible to buy camping gas and if so, which sizes (so we know what cooking gear to bring).

  • Can we camp anywhere, or only on dedicated camping (areas)?

Our global itinerary:

  • Arrival Tel Aviv, early evening…evening train to Haifa, camp close to Haifa or outside Tel Aviv
  • Spend 2 days in/around Haifa/Akko
  • Spend 2 nights in/around Tiberias/Golan Heights
  • Travel to Jerusalem, stay 1 night there
  • Travel to Westbank
  • Travel from Westbank to Dead Sea (Ein Gedi)
  • Travel from Ein Gedi to Tel Aviv
  • 2 days in Tel Aviv
