Promoot je geheel vrijwillig een land wat zich vertaald in “vrij land” waarvan je toch wel het een en ander hebt geleerd hoe het soms in elkaar steekt positief en negatief in de loop der jaren, en gebruiken en levensstijl respecteert, maar dit had ik nooit verwacht dat dit zo heeft kunnen escaleren en hopelijk niet verder escaleert wat het is al veel te veel.
Als ik er met me vrouw over aan het praten was de laatste paar dagen antwoorden ze met de woorden “het lijkt wel of mijn land gek geworden is”

Indonesia is the latest member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to call on the Thai government to exercise restraint and resume dialogue to end violent street protests.
Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said Jakarta is willing to help Thailand end the political violence, if asked. But, he says, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations must lend support as a group because the battle is bad for Thailand and the region as a whole.
“Certainly this is a rather delicate issue,” he said. “We don’t want to appear to be interfering in the domestic issues of the country, but certainly as Asean grows and becomes major and has its own charter, then certainly we can’t sit back and watch if one our countries has a problem on its own.”
Asean traditionally avoids interfering in members’ affairs. On Tuesday, however, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said Asean needs to take a common stand to show that it cares about finding a peaceful resolution to Thailand’s crisis.
Aleksius Jemadu, professor of international politics at Jakarta’s Universitas Pelita Harapan, said it is only appropriate for Asean to intervene.
“If they claim to build a community, they cannot stay indifferent to what is happening in Thailand,” Jemadu said.
Asean should push the Thai government to refrain from using excessive force against its people, he said, as this is violates the Asean charter on human rights. He adds the grouping needs to use the power of one voice to pressure the Thai government to stop the fighting and talk with the anti-government protesters.
Cambodia and Singapore have urged the two sides to reach a peaceful political settlement. Last month, Asean Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan, responded to the situation by saying it would tarnish Thailand’s image as a prosperous, stable and peace-loving nation.
Those concerns have spread throughout the region as the escalating violence has led to scores of deaths since the anti-government protests began in March. On Wednesday the Thai army routed the protesters, sparking violence throughout Bangkok.
Since Thailand was the starting point of the Asian financial crisis 13 years ago, there are concerns that its current troubles could cause new regional economic problems. Teuku, however, says what is happening now is isolated to Thailand.
“We are just hoping that more people don’t look at the region as a single concept, they will look at Asean consisting of counties like Indonesia and other countries that are very stable and have steady growth and progress,” he said.
However, many economists in Asia worry that the Thai conflict will hurt investor confidence. Political analysts such as Jemadu say peace in Thailand is in the best interests of all 10 Asean members. (Agencies)
Ja het is echt ongelofelijk het lijken wel een stelletje kinderen…waarom iets oplossen met geweld? Geloof me communiceren is de enige echte oplossing voor deze problemen. Hopelijk dat nu de leiders van de rood hemden opgepakt zijn, het nu eens een keer wat rustiger wordt anders kom er helemaal niemand meer naar dit prachtig land( wat nu overigens helaas wat minder prachtig is geworden naar mijn mening ) en dat zou echt zonde zijn!
Moet ik nu blij zijn dat ik in oktober op vakantie ga naar Thailand?
Ben geschokeerd van al die beelden en foto’s die vandaag voorbij mijn ogen zijn gekomen.
Heb al 3 staatsgrepen(life)meegemaakt op die 30jaar dat ik Thailand heb aangedaan, maar dit?
Verleden jaar(december)was ik aanwezig op de koningsfeesten,ik zag alleen maar lachende gezichten van de mensen,het was echt “sanoek”!!
Daarvoor was ik verliefd geworden op Thailand,op de warmte van de mensen(hun blijheid,hun glimlach)

Honderd Thai gered uit brandend gebouw, avondklok in 21 provincies

**In de Thaise hoofdstad Bangkok zijn zeker honderd mensen bevrijd uit het brandend complex van het Thaise tv-station Channel 3. In 21 provincies geldt een avondklok. **

Het hoofdkantoor van Channel 3 bevindt zich in het Emporium Towercomplex aan Sukhumvit Road, een van de belangrijkste verkeersaders in het centrum van Bangkok. De wolkenkrabber telt 42 bovengrondse verdiepingen en is 167 meter hoog. Het gebouw was in brand gestoken tijdens ongeregeldheden in de stad, toen autoriteiten probeerden een einde te maken aan protesten tegen de regering.
Avondklok
De Thaise autoriteiten hebben in 21 van de 75 provincies een avondklok ingesteld, die geldt van 20.00 uur tot 6.00 uur. De oproerpolitie en het leger hebben toestemming gekregen om mensen dood te schieten als die zich schuldig maken aan plunderingen, brandstichting of andere criminele feiten. De maatregel gold aanvankelijk alleen in Bangkok, maar is uitgebreid omdat de onrust zich verspreidt over het land. (anp/sam)

:chin:George ik denk dat nu vooral mensen bezig zijn om te rellen en te plunderen dat gebeurd in veel landen ze maken nu gebruik van de situatie om er zelf beter van te worden heeft niks met politieke voor keur te maken .ik zelf ga wel in oktober want mijn hart zegt dat het nu maar om een kleine groep mensen gaat die wil rellen .

Chaos broke out in several provincial strongholds of the red shirt protesters after the government moved to disperse the main rally at Ratchaprasong, forcing red shirt leaders to turn themselves in to police.
Enraged red shirt protesters in Mukdahan province burn the city hall building.

City hall offices in several provinces in the North and Northeast were burned by United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship supporters after the Centre for Resolution of the Emergency Situation launched its operation to break the red shirt barricades at Sala Daeng and Sam Yan. The move forced UDD leaders to disperse the rally and surrender to save protesters’ lives.
More than 600 demonstrators in Udon Thani gathered at Thung Sri Muang grounds and lashed out against the government’s actions, after violence between the sides led to several deaths.
Authorities tried to calm protesters before they moved to the city hall office and broke the gates and glass doors before flocking inside.
Angry protesters broke and damaged assets including vehicles and set alight the city hall’s old building. Fire trucks could not access the areas because they were blocked by protesters.
In Khon Kaen, red shirt protesters set fire to the old wooden city hall building and burned it to the ground while the new building was burned at the west site.
About 2,000 enraged protesters broke the gates and damaged anything in their path.
They also set fire to a pile of old tyres in the city hall compound.
The situation was the same in Chiang Mai, the hometown of ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Protesters burned the house of a senior provincial officer located in the compound of the provincial governor’s residence.
A number of old tyres were also burned at the compound.
Upset protesters also flocked to Bangkok Bank’s Tha Phae branch.
Meanwhile, pro-Thaksin supporters in Mukdahan broke into the city hall compound and burned the building. Fire trucks that responded were attacked by protesters, though some red shirts disagreed with such actions.
In Ubon Ratchathani, about 1,000 protesters clashed with security officers at the city hall compound before they set fire to the Provincial Culture Office located in the compound. Some protesters then moved to the second floor of city hall and set fire to the provincial governor’s room, damaging it severely.

Onderzoek naar 9 doden in de tempel. Leger wordt beschuldigd van het doden van deze protesters.
Katapulten en ping pong bombs gevonden in tempel. Maar wat ligt daar nu bovenaan in de doos ? Wat is dat voor wapen ?

Duizenden betogers verlaten tempel Bangkok
BANGKOK - Duizenden demonstranten hebben donderdag de tempel in het centrum van de Thaise hoofdstad Bangkok verlaten waar zij de nacht hadden doorgebracht, nadat bij gevechten op straat negen mensen waren omgekomen. Mensen die hun spullen bij elkaar hadden gepakt, en kinderen gingen uit het gebouw en lieten de lijken van zes mensen achter onder een portret van de zeer vereerde koning Bhumibol.

De tempel was woensdag tot veilig gebied verklaard, toen het leger met pantservoertuigen het kampement van de aanhangers van oud-president Thaksin Shinawatra binnendrong. Daardoor kwamen meerdere mensen om het leven. In de tempel zouden ongeveer vijfduizend mensen, onder wie veel vrouwen en kinderen, hun toevlucht hebben gezocht.
