Hoi iedereen,
Hier is-ie:
*I’ve been preparing my trip around the world for the last weeks/months, and there’s just one thing that I can’t figure out: I’m looking for a place to volunteer somewhere in the north of Argentine (at least not Patagonia or BA) but I don’t seem to get the information I need. Córdoba would be my first choice, but I’m flexible. I’ve also been reading the previous posts here, but those stories where all quite a bit different from mine (Spanish level, duration of stay, area, skills and interests, expectations), so here’s mine in short:
- I’m Dutch, 26 years old and 5th year med student
- I speak Dutch, English and Spanish fluently
- I’ll be TEFL-qualified once I get there
- I like working with people, elderly as well as adults, children, disabled and ill people. I’ve been working in healthcare for 5 years now.
- I’ll stay for 3 months
- I’m not looking for a place where I’ll recieve room/board in exchange for work, I’m saving money now to cover my expenses there
- I’m not looking for an organisation that will organise all my stuff and
- I’m not willing to pay more than a reasonable amount of money for the project, accomodation and food if an organisation would arrange it (but I’d be happy to organise it myself)
I’m aware of the fact that volunteering isn’t always a good thing, I’m trying to be as critical as needed about the projects and the effect of my contribution to the whole, without being sceptical about it. I know I probably won’t be able to change big things but I may be of good help to someone while I’m there. Why I want to volunteer, honestly? I think it’s the best way to get to know the culture and the people, and basically I just think we that can learn from eachother … that makes at least 2 people wiser than they were and I think that’s a good thing :).
I’ve been googling “(volunteer)projects”, “volunteer(ing)”, “NGO”, “foundation” in South-America, Argentine and Córdoba… and any combination of those words in English, Spanish, and Dutch, I’ve checked workaway, helpxchange and volunteersouthamerica, redsolidaria, rutassolidarias, globalvoluntarios and many others yet… with not much of a result.
So… I hoped that someone here could help me with this…??
Hope to hear from you soon!
If not, I’ll probably have a good look while I’m there… It would be nice to have a few ideas yet though.
Ciaow! Nelly*
