Driving back to Nairobi back from Kilifi last Monday we stopped the night at ‘‘Halfway House’’ in Voi, right on the park fence. Without entering Tsavo we saw hundreds of buffalo, scores of eland, twenty-four elephants including one minute baby, zebra and some smaller game.
The road surface for about 40 kms on the Mombasa side of Voi is still breaking up and there was no sign of repairs, but the rebuilding has progressed from Bachuma to MacKinnon Road and beyond, followed by a long and rough diversion ending at Maji ya Chumvi where the road is being realigned around the long standing black spot.
