Woman pours hot water on co-wife

One Mama Sofi Jammeh has allegedly poured hot water on her husband’s first wife, Fatou Colley, leaving her in a critical condition.
** According to reports gathered by the Daily Observer, the incident happened on the 2nd April 2013 in Lamin village, West Coast Region. The victim, Fatou Colley, narrated her ordeal to this reporter Thursday afternoon at the AfricMed Hospital in Kololi where she is currently admitted. Her words: “I had a problem with my co-wife. She woke up in the morning and asked me to lend her a cooking pot and I told her that there is something in that cooking pot. I then asked her to wait for one Mustapha to bring her another cooking pot, but she said she would not use that one. Our husband (Saidou Sanyang) then asked me to give her (Mama Sofi Jammeh) the cooking pot and I told him that there is something in the cooking pot. Mama Sofi Jammeh then went in and took a kettle that we use to boil water from the kitchen and started boiling water.”**
“I then continued doing my work and after a while, my husband who was in the house with the second wife then called me into the house and asked who owns the cooking pot, as I responded, he just got up and started beating me. My brother, Abdou Colley, came to separate us. As I was running out, I met Mama Sofi Jammeh at the door and she poured the hot water on me.”
Fatou Colley, a mother of four, added that she has been on admission for 10 days now.
Meanwhile, the Daily Observer also gathered that the suspect, Mama Sofi Jammeh, is helping the police at Banjulinding in their investigation.
When contacted, the police spokesperson, ASP David Kujabi, said he is not yet aware of the incident.
