Water For Wildlife EMERGENCY

Emergency call for donations to supply water .

WATER IS LIFE… !!

Help us in getting WATER to the suffering WILDLIFE of the drought stricken area of Tsavo East and Tsavo West.

The watering holes are completely dry and flat and silted in the Tsavo Eco System. Before the big rains expected anytime this month, we need to URGENTLY desilt them for the watering holes to retain as much water as possible even after the rains have gone. And for desilting, we need to fuel and oil up the earth-moving machinery which is quite expensive.
THIS YEAR’S FORECAST IS THAT THE 2017 DROUGHT WILL BE EVEN MORE SEVERE THAN 2016.

The wildlife has suffered enough and continues to suffer during the severe drought in this region. We managed with your help to desilt 3 dams between Voi Gate and Manyani Gate which are crucial watering joints of all wildlife in that area. We still have one more to go on that side and the massive Mudanda Rock watering hole.

Together with the KWS Tsavo East Senior Warden, we identified 4 more wildlife watering holes between the Voi Gate and Aruba Dam and one going towards Galana River. We are now all set to go, with the amount that remained from the previous works. Time is of essence here since the rains are expected anytime before the end of March. We need to move fast and we need all the help we can get from you beautiful kind people. As from the pictures, you will see how from the dry watering holes to the latest pictures taken how the water has been retained and how the animals and birds are enjoying drinking from it and splashing and baby elephants rolling in it, cooling off from the extreme heat of the Tsavo semi-arid region.

We need more such watering holes in Tsavo to help keep animals distributed properly, hence less destruction of vegetation in one region when all animals just clutter to that one watering hole which has water.

The KWS rangers in that region where we desilted the watering holes, have also reported of less human wildlife conflict in that area, since the desilting of the dams in that area. The water retention in the dams, have kept the animals from straying into the villages in that region, looking for water and getting themselves killed. DESILTING OF WATERING DAMS is one way of SAVING our wildlife from being killed by man.

Please do help us in reaching our target to buy the fuel and hydraulic oil for the truck shovel and wheel loader and also the plant operator and his assistance’s allowances paid daily so that we all can help in desilting these holes in different areas of Tsavo for more water retention and less suffering for the animals long after the rains have gone.

RATE OF 1 DOLLAR = Kshs.100/-

1 litre DIESEL = Kshs. 86/-
5000 litres DIESEL FOR THE 4 DAMS = Kshs.425,000/- (4,250 USD)
Plant Operator Daily Allowance - Kshs.1,500/- (15 USD)
Engine Oil 20 litres for the machinery - Kshs.7,550/- (76 USD)

Every litre of fuel will help make a difference.
Every litre will help save these animals.
Every litre will help retain every drop of rain.
Every litre will help keep the wildlife from venturing into human settlement areas and getting poached or killed.

WE CAN ONLY DO THIS WITH YOUR SUPPORT. TOGETHER WE CAN.
