A stunning discovery in Beit Ras in north of Jordan.
Five days ago an almost 2000-year old cave (exact age to be confirmed) was accidentally stumbled upon in Beit Ras, north of Jordan, while digging a new waste-water sanitation network. The cave contains a basalt stone coffin decorated with low reliefs of lion heads. The walls and the ceilings of the cave are adorned with breathtaking frescoes. Absolutely breathtaking!!
The cave has been sealed off and permanently closed until the Department of Antiquities devises a comprehensive plan to manage this fabulous find.
