This business’ philosophy on eco-tourism is based around the trinity of business, people and the environment.
The business part is formed by a quiet luxerious eco-lodge Ometepe Island’s most unique and environmentally responsible hotel. With private and shared accomodaction to choose from, the lodge caters for everyone. The exclusive lodges are designed for the traveler who wants to experience nature without sacrificing comfort and convenience while the dormitory ensures even the more budget conscious traveler is able to enjoy a taste of this lodge.
The environmental part and people part is represented by a beautiful Organic Farm of 15 acres while bordering the property is one of the island’s premier organic shade-grown coffee plantations. And by a Development Center, which is to support and facilitate locally run community projects by providing financial, material and human resources.
Internship possibilities:
Interns work at the Lodge 5 days a week including a half-day working with the Foundation on social projects. Good English speaking skills is an important requirement as is a basic level of Spanish speaking skills.
Among the possobilities are:
• investigating and implementing new marketing channels such as how to get in touch with the tourists that like ‘birdwatching’ or ‘yoga’tourists.
• improving the reservations process
• improving the internal process documentation
• working in the bar&restaurant
• organizing client activities
All three foreign managers have a relevant university degree and can guide you during your internship. Interns receive a prepared meal at the lodge for every day they work as well as unlimited coffee & juice.
The location of the lodge is quit secluded and you can stay on the property at the volunteer area. Here you will be housed in basic but decent tents incl campingmatresses and sheets. This area also includes an shared kitchen, composting toilets and a outdoor shower. You pay a minimal fee per day to cover the expenses of you stay.
