Check out the travel goodies in Krabi with this digital guidebook **
KRABI, 5 October 2010 – Krabi’s tourism faternity has added a new guidebook to its arsenal of marketing tools. The 140-page guide was published earlier this year for distribution at international trade shows and also to tour wholesalers, worldwide.
Apart from some excellent photography and maps the book features details of the province’s fine beaches, while giving insights and tips on activities and ecotourism pursuits to add value to a vacation. There are some interesting chapters on a hot spring waterfall and hot springs on a relatively unknown beach in the province.
Due to the natural beauty of coastal karsts and rocky islands, many of them concealing submerged caves, there are chapters on canoeing, rock climbing and ecotourism activities including study tours of mangrove forests.
Krabi is close to many of the Andaman Sea’s famous islands, that are usually associated with sightseeing cruises sold in Phuket. Also, islands that are generally off the radar for most tourists gain a mention in this guidebook.
Lanta island’s traditional old town and its sea tribe festival gets a chapter as does Ao Nang, one of Krabi’s best locations to enjoy a beach lifestyle and its fabulous sunsets. There are small maps to orientate the reader and they make it easier for tour operators to see how attractions could fit into a beach holiday programme.
But like all good projects in print, the challenge is to distribute them and that means that this gem of a guidebook is expensive to mail to tour operators, worldwide. If they are attending a travel mart they will probably be able to pick up a copy from a Krabi tourism company or hotel booth.
That’s a pity because the book has some interesting nuggets of information and will certainly encourage readers to study Krabi in more details, underlining the fact that this is an emerging destination with huge potential for both European and Asian markets.
TTR Weekly has transfered the guidebook into a digital books format that you can read chapter- by-chapter. This makes it faster to open and read. The flicking page format replicates the printed guidebook. You can open the various chapters below or save them to your PC as a PDF. It uses Adobe Flash without the need to download a .exe file.
