‘Lost in Space’ pilots arrested JAKARTA: Police have arrested two AdamAir pilots who landed at an airport in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, when they were supposed to be flying from Jakarta to Makassar.
The pilot, Tri Nusiogo, and co-pilot Ahmad Deny Syaifuddin are detained on charges of endangering the lives of passengers under the 1992 Aviation Law, National Police spokesmen Brig. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam said.
The pilots had blamed the navigation mishap on faulty equipment.
Police arrested the pilots after checks on the plane’s navigation system proved it was working properly, they said.
If found guilty of the charges, the pilots could face up to five years in prison. Investigators found no technical problems in the plane, team head Sr. Comr. Banu Saputra said.
