Learn spanish and volunteer

**FULL IMMERSION PROGRAM AT EQUINOX SPANISH SCHOOL

**

Full immersion is our most popular and effective program; for the students it’s theperfect opportunity to learn or improve their Spanish speaking skills. Our professional, experienced Spanish teachers will teach daily 4 hours ofi ndividual Spanish classes. In addition to the Spanish classes, the student will work as a volunteer 3 or 4 hours daily at various schools, daycares and other places where they can practice the language with the children and the teachers.

The Full immersion is a program that has a great social content with students supportingthe care, development and growth of poor children from vulnerable neighborhoods.

We also support Ecuadorian families who offer accommodations to the students in conditions that are comfortable, clean and safe. Typically, during the time of the program, students live with a host family in single rooms with an individual bathroom, healthy food, laundry and Wi-Fi service. The students can share their stay in Quito with educated families who are always willing to help and support them, to make their time in Quito as pleasant as possible. Living with an Ecuadorian family is also a great way to immerse you in the Ecuadorian culture.
In an effort to support the voluntary work, the Spanish school offers volunteers a contribution of $100 per month, for the expenses of transportation and lunch.

The volunteer work is usually in the mornings from 8:30 until 12:00 and in theafternoon, they receive Spanish classes at the school from 13:00 until 17:00.

There is also the possibility that the students take Spanish classes for one month inQuito with 80 hours of individual classes and afterwards, do volunteer work at Quito, Andes and Galapagos. The students just have to pay transportation, food and lodging. The Spanish school will pay a contribution of $100 for the help as their time as a volunteer.

We are working with different projects. The first three projects are in Quito. Theother two projects are located in other places.

  1. CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES There is an increase of people withdisabilities in most recent years; approximately 15% of the world’s population suffers from some type of disability. This situation is much more serious inthe sectors hit by poverty, mainly in urban, marginal, and rural areas whereliving conditions are fairly low due to the lack of coverage of basic andspecialized services. We require passionate volunteers ready to change their lives through caring and affection.

2.CHILD CARE
Our program of community daycare Centers offer comfort and support to young children while their parents are at work. Volunteers help a tutor care for the basic needs of these children, providing them with positive experiences through games, and educational activities. They create an atmosphere of confidence while strengthening the children’s emotional growth.

3.TEACHING ENGLISH
Students can volunteer as an English teacher in schools with limited economic resources and help strengthen the educational system in the most needed social sectors, becoming a solution to combat the education crisis by the lack qualified teachers with TEFL or TESOL certification.

4.SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE
As a volunteer, you will work on organic farms or greenhouses managed by indigenous families which live in the fertile heart of the Andes, located in the North ofthe country, undertaking self-sustaining farming practices, raising crops and promoting modern and ancestral techniques as alternative to alleviate poverty in which they find the inhabitants of these communities.

5.GALAPAGOSCONSERVATION PROGRAM
When you join our Conservation in the Galapagos Islands Program, you will have the opportunity to get involved in a great variety of conservation activities torestore the ecosystem in the Santa Cruz Island, which has been affected by tourism. You will be working side by side with the local people in environment education, waste solid management, as well as supporting the agriculture in the local school gardens, and more.
