Your activities as a intern:
This NGO has seperated the Southwestern region of Nicaragua in three subregions; the colonial town and province of Granada, the vulcanic Island of Ometepe and the surfer’s and fisherman’s paradise of the coastal region of San Juan del Sur.

In each region two full-time consultants are working on the realisation of the activities mentoined earlier. One of these consultants will be your internship-supervisor. Partly you can work on your own research related and in coordination with the activities mentioned, partly you will support the consultant in his tasks of supporting the SME’s. How you work is divided depends on the requierment of your educational intitution and the study-year you are at.

Activities with the SME’s will be very basis, for example learn the businees owners how to use a computer, set up an administration system, explain the need of marketing, formulate and execute making a marketingplan with the owner.

For your own research you can think of central marketing questions such as: What are the profiles of the actual touristgroup who are visiting these areas? Which profiles a re missing/ have potential to grow and how to realize this/ Analysis and recommendation of the subregions based on the opinions of tourists which are gathered by questionaires/ etc.

The consultants do not speak English, neither do most of the entrepeneurs. Therefor an intermediate/ good command of the Spanish language is recommendable, although not obligated.
