PORT MORESBY, Feb 3 Asia Pulse - An important instrument guiding border management relations between Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Solomon Islands will be signed today.

The common border treaty will be signed in Honiara between PNG’s Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister, Sir Rabbie Namaliu and his Solomon Islands counterpart.
The treaty basically sets down guidelines as to how the two countries will jointly manage their common border, and also solve border related problems.
The signing comes as the two countries are working to solve a fresh incident where armed PNG citizens from Bougainville crossed into Ovau Island in Solomon Islands and stole from a logging company.
The leaders are also expected to follow-up discussions on bilateral and regional issues concerning trade and others.
Sir Rabbie will also perform a ground breaking ceremony for a new building to house the PNG High Commission in Honiara. (Pacnews)
