**Biological research station is searching for Biology and all kind of Nature related students.
Internship organsation:**
This biological research station is managed by an americain PhD who is specialised in evolutionairy biology. It is located in a beautiful crater lake which is a nature reserve. It has a great biodiversity in its direct surroundings.
Under supervision of this PhD. you can choose to take part in one of the existing researches, in which you can do you own sub-research. When your knowledge and time are sufficient you can also do you own research.
Often there are international students, scientists, volunteers who stay for longer of shorter periods at the research station. This amount varies from 1-15 persons. You stay at the centre in shared rooms and food and drinks are provided within the rent you pay. Private rooms are often available at request.
Because of the location in Nicaragua and the Nicaraguan employees the language spoken at the station is Spanish. But because many people also speak English, you will also practice this a lot.
Examples of research conducted by the research station:
• How human activity influences the fauna. This is done by monitoring and comparing different areas in the reserve which have different human activity ( high: houses and public area, medium: agricultural area, low: little to none activity) on all kinds of species such as bats, rodents, butterflies, amphibians, monkeys, etc
• Inventory on flora in the reserve. Where only about 50 different plant species were known in the reserve, now due to the research station over a 150 have been identified. This number is still growing.
• Various bird studies such as an international migratory survival under US coordination by mist-netting, banding and measuring. Another possibility is a ecology project around further-to-identify-birds
