BANGKOK, 5 October 2010 – Indonesia AirAsia will kick off a Surabaya-Bangkok service, 3 November, in additional to a daily service between Jakarta and Bangkok.
It represents the first air service between Thailand and Indonesia’s second populous city in East Java. THAI once flew the route in the mid 90s and pulled out due to poor loads.

The flight will depart from Surabaya at 1525 and arrive in Bangkok at 1910. It will return at 1945 landing in Surabaya at 2335.
Fares were posted on airasia.com at Bt2,300 roundtrip, but valid for booking only until yesterday with a travel period 3 November through to 11 August 2011. The standard fare is now approximately Bt5,760.
Surabaya is the main seaport and commercial centre in eastern Indonesia. It has population of around 3 million and the surrounding rural area another 7 million residents.
The city is one of the busiest ports in the country exporting sugar, tobacco and coffee. Surabaya has seen a boom in real estate with new high-rise apartments, condominiums and hotels.
