By the time of publication it should have all brand new furnishings and fittings including a rooftop swimming pool and a bar/café. Half of it is done, and it is gorgeous. They have a travel desk specialising in northern Queensland and a games room with pool table. The modern dorms are all air conditioned spacious and clean, painted in pastels and muted browns. The exterior looks like a big cement block, but inside it is bright, comfortable and clean. Each of the five stories is themed with one of the natural elements. Dorms are a bit cramped, but have en suite and separate toilets and showers. The Birdie Num Num bar is a popular hotspot in town where people come to play pool, mingle, and hang out in some of the big round canvas huts. There is a lap pool and large spa with a retractable stage over it for live music nights, as well as a movie room with big plush pillows for seating. All of this combines to form a great atmosphere. Staff are friendly and the travel desk is helpful.
